Work from the contractor’s actual start date

Check which rooms must be clear and when the work will begin. Identify the furniture leaving the property and the belongings you need to keep at home. Let us know whether access will be shared with builders or deliveries. Arrange the collection before the work obstructs doorways or changes the route out.

Choose a place that can receive the furniture

The temporary destination might be a booked storage unit or another home. Confirm that it has enough space and someone can let the crew in. Storage rent is a separate agreement with the provider. If furniture is simply changing floors within the same property, email the details first so the work and suitability can be discussed.

Keep the temporary load identifiable

Attach labels that distinguish furniture leaving from pieces that remain. Keep fittings with dismantled furniture and protect surfaces before other work starts. Mention heavy tops, glass panels and items requiring special handling in the enquiry. Packing or dismantling must be discussed rather than assumed to be included.

Treat the return as its own appointment

Building schedules can change. Request the outward transfer first, then agree a return once the rooms are ready and the access is usable. Give us any revised load or delivery instructions. We do not automatically reserve a second visit when the first transfer is booked.
