Record more than the furniture’s name

Give the mattress size and bed frame dimensions. For a wardrobe, note height, width, depth and whether it separates into sections. Mention mirrored doors and heavy panels. If collecting from a seller, ask them these questions before agreeing a collection window rather than discovering the answers when the van arrives.

Decide who is taking the pieces apart

Some frames can travel assembled; others need dismantling to leave the property. Confirm whether the seller or household will do that work. If you want help with dismantling or reassembly, request it explicitly and we will discuss what is suitable. Do not assume assembly is included in a transport-only request.

Measure the narrowest parts of the route

Check the width and height of the doorways, the turns on the stairs and any low ceiling above the landing. Include lift dimensions where relevant. Furniture fitting the new room does not establish that it can reach the room. Send the access details and flag any uncertainty before confirmation.

Keep the parts and receiving space organised

Bag and label fittings for each piece and keep instructions with them where available. Make a clear space in the destination room and identify who can answer questions about placement. The normal minimum labour charge applies even when only one bed or wardrobe is travelling.
